PHOENIX — A major Gilbert intersection is set to reopen Wednesday night, five days after a water line break flooded the roadway, the town said.
The East Valley suburb said Tuesday the leak at Cooper and Elliot roads was fixed, but crews needed a bit more time to repair the pavement.
No specific time for Wednesday’s expected reopening was provided.
A 12-inch water line broke on Dec. 30, flooding the intersection in the northwest part of Gilbert.
Traffic was diverted at the nearest traffic signal in all four directions while the repair work was ongoing.
The town said the break could cause discoloration of water in the area, but the water was safe for use.
