PHOENIX — A woman was wounded Tuesday morning in a shooting at a west Phoenix fast-food restaurant, authorities said.

A suspect, described as an ex-boyfriend of the victim, left the area before officers arrived, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

Officers responded to the Whataburger on 75th Avenue just north of McDowell Road around 10:30 a.m., police said.

They found one victim, who was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound that isn’t considered life-threatening.

Detectives were searching for the suspect and working to determine what led up to the shooting.

No other information was immediately available.
