1 dead, another injured after shooting on I-10 in Phoenix

PHOENIX — One man was killed and another was injured when a suspect shot at their vehicle on Interstate 10 in Phoenix early New Year’s Day, authorities said.
The victims were traveling east on I-10 around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when an unknown assailant shot at them near 24th Street, the Phoenix Police Department said.
The driver pulled off the freeway at University Drive and stopped in a nearby parking lot.
Officers responded to the area and found one gunshot victim. Leon Greer, 19, died after being taken to a hospital.
Investigators learned that a second victim had been a passenger the vehicle and was driven to a hospital before police arrived at the scene.
The passenger’s injuries weren’t life-threatening.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the shooting suspect.
