PHOENIX — Once again, revelers can ride free on the Valley Metro transit system this New Year’s Eve.

Residents and visitors can board the light rail, a bus or streetcar for free from 7 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday.

“We encourage those celebrating the new year to take full advantage of the free rides and to plan their routes ahead of the holiday,” Jessica Mefford-Miller, Valley Metro CEO, said in a press release.

People can plan ahead by looking at routes online and on the Valley Metro app.

Coors Light has sponsored the program in Phoenix since 2013, providing over 188,500 rides since it began.

“We’re thrilled to once again offer our Free Rides program on New Year’s Eve to help everyone ring in the new year safely,” Tami Garrison, Molson Coors community affairs director, said in the release.

“Each year, we’re reminded of the meaningful impact that stems from our Free Rides program and it motivates us to continue expanding this program.”

All buses, the light rail and streetcar will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day and Monday.

Valley Metro customer service will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, closed Sunday and open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

We want to hear from you.
