PHOENIX — ZooLights will give it that old college try this week when marching bands for the four football teams in town for bowl games this week join the festivities at the Phoenix Zoo.
The bands from Wisconsin and Oklahoma State will perform in the grassy area next to the zoo’s main lake at approximately 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday.
At the same times Thursday, musicians from Michigan and TCU will march into the spotlight. (The Michigan and TCU appearances were originally scheduled for Wednesday but were moved because rain is in the forecast.)
The Wisconsin and Oklahoma State contingents are in Phoenix for Tuesday night’s Guaranteed Rate Bowl at Chase Field.
The Michigan and TCU football teams will face off Saturday afternoon in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, a national semifinal playoff game, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
The marching band performances are included in the ZooLights admission price.
The annual holiday event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. every night through Jan. 15.
Online tickets start at $25 for zoo members and $30 for the general public.
Tickets at the gate are $30 for zoo members and $35 for the public. Children 2 years old and younger get in free.
Entry to ZooLights includes admission to the ongoing Dinosaurs in the Desert exhibit.
