Prescott Valley police sergeant arrested for domestic violence

PHOENIX — An off-duty Prescott Valley police sergeant was arrested for domestic violence on Thursday and has been placed on administrative leave, authorities said.
Sgt. Michael Morris was booked into the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center on charges of disorderly conduct per domestic violence and criminal damage per domestic violence, the Prescott Valley Police Department said in a press release on Friday.
Prescott Valley officers arrived at the sergeant’s home around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday in response to a domestic violence report and contacted the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office to investigate after it was determined Morris was involved in the incident, authorities said.
Deputies returned to the house just after 6 p.m. and arrested Morris for domestic violence.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the criminal investigation.
Morris, who has been with the department for more than 20 years, is on administrative leave pending an internal investigation into the incident, Prescott Valley police said.
