PHOENIX — A suspect who fled a weekend traffic stop in Old Town Scottsdale and collided with a pedestrian was arrested Monday, authorities said.

Nelious E. Horsley III, 29, was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and endangerment, the Scottsdale Police Department said in a press release.

No one was seriously injured, but police said Horsley endangered the lives of two pedestrians and four officers during the incident, which started around 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

Horsley was pulled over for driving the wrong way on Saddlebag Trail south of Camelback Road, police said.

Horsley was argumentative during the traffic stop and refused to comply with commands to step out of the car, police said.

When an officer tried to physically remove Horsley from the car, he suspect broke free and drove off while other officers were standing near the vehicle.

Horsley struck one of the pedestrians as they were crossing the street, police said.

Officers tracked down Horsley at his home, using the address obtained from his driver’s license during the traffic stop.

Horsley was not charged with hit-and-run because the pedestrians did not want to assist in prosecution, police said.
