PHOENIX — Airbnb announced Wednesday the launch of a program that will allow prospective renters to search for host-friendly apartments in the Phoenix area.
The Airbnb-Friendly apartment program provides tools to those interested in hosting a spare room, including the ability to browse different apartments at various price points and locations, according to a press release.
“Airbnb was founded during the Great Recession when Brian and Joe needed help affording their rent, and now Airbnb-friendly apartments build on that founding story by making it easier for people to reap the economic benefits of hosting,” Nathan Blecharzyck, co-founder and chief strategy officer, said in the release.
“As the cost of living continues to rise, renters can use the extra income earned by hosting part-time on Airbnb to contribute to their rent, save for a home or pay for other living expenses.”
Other resources on the site include access to connecting to building management, access to Airbnb Setup and an earnings calculator to determine how much money a renter could make by hosting part-time.
Buildings will have personalized community rules for housing, such as how many nights renters can host each year.
The new program was created to allow renters to earn income from sharing their home and for those whose lease terms or building rules prevent them from hosting part-time, the release said.
