PHOENIX — Ground has been broken on the next phase of a park in Queen Creek that is expected to be completed by late next year.
The 13-acre expansion of Mansel Carter Oasis Park will include the addition of tennis courts, volleyball courts, pickleball courts, an outdoor fitness zone and more.
The park, which opened in 2018, is located near Sossaman and Ocotillo roads.
“We are thrilled to be expanding the park as promised when it opened,” Vice Mayor Jeff Brown said in a press release.
J2 Engineering designed the park’s expansion and it is being built by Haydon Building Corporation.
Funding for the expansion will come from impact fees and existing town resources.
Mansel Carter Oasis isn’t the only park in the East Valley town to get work done.
Queen Creek recently broke ground on Frontier Family Park, an 85-acre venture located near Signal Butte and Ryan roads.
The first phase of the park is expected to be open by late 2023. The northeastern portion of the park, which will include a recreation and aquatic center, should open in 2024.
