Man found dead by crews battling apartment fire near South Mountain

PHOENIX – A man was found dead at the scene of an apartment fire near South Mountain Park in Phoenix on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Responding crews encountered heavy fire at the entryway of a two-story complex on Baseline Road near 32nd Street, the Phoenix Fire Department said in a press release.
During search and rescue efforts, firefighters found a man on the second floor who wasn’t breathing and couldn’t be resuscitated. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Phoenix Fire Investigation Task Force and Phoenix Police Department are investigating the incident.
No other details were immediately available.
