PHOENIX – Police said a man suspected of setting a fire inside a Phoenix adult store Monday afternoon was taken into custody.

No one was injured in the fire at the Castle Megastore near Third Street and Camelback Road, the Phoenix Fire Department said. Employees and customers were outside of the building by the time firefighters arrived.

The Phoenix Police Department said they responded to a call around 3:30 p.m. about an unidentified man lighting things on fire on the ground floor of the store.

Police said they tried to talk the man into leaving the store but he refused. Officers then fired pepperballs at him and were able to take him into custody.

The man was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Firefighters managed to limit the blaze to the first floor.

Both departments’ investigations are ongoing.

No other details were made available.
