PHOENIX – Authorities in Pinal County are searching for a man suspected of fatally shooting his wife Monday night.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said Ismael Ortega Hernandez, 32, was seen running away from the home near Stanfield around 9 p.m.

The 30-year-old woman, whose name has not been made public, died of her injuries, PCSO said.

PCSO said a child called 911 to tell them a family member was dying and had been shot by her husband.

Hernandez’s cellphone was found in the area.

The thin, 5-foot-6 suspect was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants.

Anyone who sees Hernandez, considered armed and dangerous, should call 911, authorities said.

Stanfield is about 50 miles south of downtown Phoenix, near State Route 347 and Interstate 8.
