The freeway was closed at Chaparral Road for about 90 minutes starting around 10:30 a.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
The wreck occurred when a swerving car struck a flatbed tow truck that was stopped, according to an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman. The car driver was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
The ADOT traffic map showed a backup past Thomas Road when the freeway reopened around noon.
