PHOENIX — Phoenix police said they caught a pair of robbery suspects who were trying to flee on foot after their vehicle crashed on Sunday.

The Phoenix Police Department said two male juveniles were detained after officers caught them near 19th Avenue and Indian School Road around 4:30 p.m.

Police said officers went sent to 33rd Avenue and Indian School Road after reports of an armed robbery. Witnesses told arriving officers the suspects were in a vehicle that was passing by.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle but the suspect kept driving. Police engaged in full pursuit until the the vehicle crashed into a parked car at an apartment complex.

Multiple people got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, police said. One of the suspects ran until he reached a block wall, which he began to climb. An officer fired at the suspect but didn’t hit him.

Officers later found him uninjured and hiding in a nearby canal.

Police said they found a firearm in the area of the shooting.

A third suspect was released, police said.

No other details were made available.

The investigation is ongoing.
