PHOENIX — Three Arizona cities ranked among the top 10 best places in the nation for Halloween in 2022, according to a finance technology company website.
Gilbert (No. 3), Chandler (No. 7) and Peoria (No. 10) all placed among SmartAsset’s best places to celebrate the holiday for family friendliness, safety and weather.
SmartAsset compared 146 U.S. cities across 10 metrics, including concentration of costume shops and candy stores, weather, crime rate and community friendliness.
Gilbert made it into the top five cities, with the study citing one of the lowest crime and property rates in the county, as well as the second-highest concentration of residents ages 14 or younger (25%).
Chandler, similar to the other Valley cities, scored well in the weather category, as the chance for rain is typically unlikely with an average temperature of 71 degrees. It also ranked 15th-lowest in violent crime rate.
In the West Valley, Peoria scored best among the safety and weather categories. It is among the top 25 for low crime rate and also has an average temperature of 71 degrees with no chance for rain.
Gilbert placed after North Las Vegas (No. 1) and Henderson, Nevada (No. 2), while three California cities and Brownsville, Texas, also ranked among the top 10.
