PHOENIX — Arizona gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs’ campaign office was broken into Monday evening, according to a statement from her office.

Officers were notified about the break-in Tuesday around 2 p.m. and items stolen overnight, according to ABC15.

“Earlier this week, a break-in occurred at our campaign headquarters,” Nicole DeMont, Hobbs’ campaign manager, said in a statement.

“We continue to cooperate with law enforcement as they investigate, and we are thankful to the men and women of the Phoenix Police Department for their work to keep us safe.”

DeMont added: “Secretary Hobbs and her staff have faced hundreds of death threats and threats of violence over the course of this campaign. Throughout this race, we have been clear that the safety of our staff and of the secretary is our number one priority.”

Police are working to identify a suspect in the burglary and it’s unclear what items were stolen from the office.

Detectives were looking into security camera footage to try to identify the suspect.

The investigation into the burglary remains ongoing.

Hobbs, the Democratic nominee for governor, will face Kari Lake in the Nov. 8 election.

We want to hear from you.
