PHOENIX — The Arizona Humane Society announced it is waiving adoption fees for all pets ages seven months or older due to overcapacity.

The initiative started Tuesday and will end on Sunday so AHS can make room for more sick, injured and abused pets.

AHS has more than 1,000 pets in its care due to an increase in critical intakes, including multiple large-scale cases with long-term medical care needs. Recently, AHS’ emergency animal medical technicians rescued 139 rabbits from hoarding conditions, the organization said in a press release.

The two Arizona Humane Society locations will be doing the special and all pets will come spayed or neutered, microchipped and current on all vaccinations.

Adopters will also receive a bag of Hill’s Science Diet food and a free veterinary exam with VCA Animal Hospitals.

Adoptions are open at the South Mountain shelter, located at 1521 W. Dobbins Road, and at the Scottsdale location at PetSmart at 4380 N. Miller Road.

Information about the animals up for adoption can be found online.

We want to hear from you.
