PHOENIX — A woman died after a driver suspected of DUI caused a four-vehicle collision in Phoenix on Monday evening, authorities said.
A silver car, carrying the allegedly intoxicated driver and a passenger, pulled onto Thomas Road near 45th Avenue at about 7:05 p.m. and crashed into a white pickup truck that was heading eastbound, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The truck was pushed into oncoming traffic, crashing with a gold SUV. The gold SUV sideswiped a silver SUV as a result, police said.
The passenger in the silver car, a woman whose identity hasn’t been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that vehicle was taken to a hopsital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Officers took a blood sample from the driver.
No other injuries were reported.
A charging decision will be made after the investigation is complete.
