PHOENIX — Phoenix Fire Department crews across the city tended to multiple fires caused by Monday’s storms.

Firefighters responded to two greater alarm fires, which required the dispatch of additional units and predefined requirement sets, among seven concurrent fires, the department posted in a thread on Twitter.

One of the second alarm fires was in a shed near Turney and 23rd avenues with extension to trees and apartments, but crews controlled the flames with no reported injuries. Some residents were displaced, according to the thread.

The second greater alarm fire involved a commercial structure.

Firefighters responded to reports of smoke and flames near Indian School Road and 28th Avenue. Crews controlled the fire in the main building and checked for extensions. There were no reported injuries, according to the thread.

Fire personnel were wrapping up battling storm-related blazes and were returning to service around 6:20 p.m., the department said.

The dust storm entered the Valley around 4 p.m. Monday and caused at least 40,000 power outages. A Dust Storm Warning for Maricopa County remains in effect until 7:27 p.m.
