PHOENIX — The Arizona Cardinals failed to muster a single touchdown in a 20-12 loss against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

The result marked the Cardinals’ seventh consecutive home defeat dating back to last season.

Cardinals radio analyst and host Ron Wolfley joined KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show on Monday to break down what went astray, focusing on the “perplexing” offensive performance.

“Anytime you give up 20 points, that’s all you give up to the Rams, in particular, there’s no way in the world you should have lost that game,” Wolfley said. “It was the offense, the execution, not physically doing what it was that you were supposed to do. They look discombobulated, and that falls on every guy who goes out on the field and every coach, as well.”

Arizona fell behind 13-0 before scoring its first points in the second quarter.

Wolfley said the Cardinals were not physical enough at the line of scrimmage and could not run the ball effectively.

The former Cardinal thinks there could be a preparation issues.

“Somehow, someway, you find a way to go out and win a game, and I think that’s where the Cardinals are at this point in time,” Wolfley said.

“And it’s not just practice, it’s how much tape study you’re doing. How are you preparing yourself throughout the week? Are you making sure you’re off your feet, taking that rest period when you need to do that? It’s all of this, it all comes together. But ultimately, it’s, ‘Are you ready to play?'”

The Cardinals hit the road next to face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
