PHOENIX — Police in Phoenix said they shot a man who was reportedly armed during a confrontation at a convenience store Thursday night.
Isaiah Reis Manning was released from the hospital and arrested on weapons charges following the shooting near Interstate 17 and Greenway Road, police said.
The Phoenix Police Department said in a press release they were responding to a call they received around 7:30 p.m. about Manning with a gun in the area of 31st Avenue and Greenway Road.
Officers were told Manning had left home with multiple weapons and was making “unusual statements,” police said.
Police caught up with him in the parking lot of the store at 25th Avenue and Greenway and said he appeared to be holding a pistol magazine.
When Manning was headed inside the store where staff and customers waited, police ordered him to stop, but he did not, they said.
“This is when the officer involved shooting occurred,” police said.
A weapon was recovered at the store, police said.
Manning was booked into Fourth Avenue Jail.
No additional information was made available.
