ATLANTA (AP) — In a story published Sept. 9, 2022, about how Republicans in Georgia are dealing with former President Donald Trump’s false assertions that the 2020 election was stolen, The Associated Press erroneously reported that Burt Jones, the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor, personally lobbied then-Vice President Mike Pence on Jan. 5, 2021, to delay certifying Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory. Jones says that although he met with Pence in Washington that day and had in his possession a letter he and others had drafted asking for the delay, he did not give the vice president the letter or personally lobby for a delay.
