PHOENIX — A stretch of westbound Interstate 10 from the East Valley into Phoenix will close this weekend for work on the Broadway Curve Improvement project, state transportation officials said.

I-10 will be closed from U.S. 60 to State Route 143 from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday for work on the new Broadway Road bridge.

The westbound I-10 ramps from westbound US 60, the westbound I-10 on-ramps at Elliot and Baseline and the westbound US 60 on-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road and Mill Avenue will also be closed.

The freeway is reopening at 7 a.m. Sunday to ensure full access for the Arizona Cardinals’ home opener, which is scheduled for 1:25 p.m. at State Farm Stadium in Glendale (Listen on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station).

Drivers heading to the game from the south can also use the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway.

In the East Valley, eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to three lanes from Elliot to Warner roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for pavement work.

The eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Elliot Road and eastbound off-ramp at Warner Road will be closed.

In Buckeye, I-10 will be narrowed to one lane near the State Route 85 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday for a widening project.

Finally, I-17 in north Phoenix will be narrowed to two lanes from Dunlap to Peoria avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign work related to Valley Metro’s light rail bridge construction project.
