PHOENIX — Construction on a new 85-acre community park in Queen Creek is underway after the town broke ground on Tuesday.

Frontier Family Park is scheduled to open to the public by the end of 2023 with a recreation and aquatic center slated to open in 2024, according to a press release.

The park, which will be near Queen Creek and Signal Butte roads, will include a play area, a 5-acre fishing lake, lighted ball fields, picnic areas, a splash pad, basketball and volleyball courts and 24 pickleball courts.

It will also have a 1.5-mile multiuse path running along its perimeter.

“Frontier Family Park will be the largest park in Queen Creek at 85 acres and will include many exciting amenities that help contribute to the overall quality of life we enjoy here in Queen Creek,” Queen Creek Vice Mayor Jeff Brown said in the release.

“Not only do our parks provide an opportunity to get outside and be active, but they are also a great place to get to know your neighbors and continue to make Queen Creek such a welcoming place to call home.”

The park adheres to goals set under Queen Creek’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan last updated in 2018 and the Corporate Strategic Plan, which is a five-year plan of action for the town(2021-26), according to the release.

In the 2021 Citizen Survey, 75% of Queen Creek residents said they wanted an aquatic center or recreational center, according to the release.
