PHOENIX — The Human Services Campus near downtown Phoenix is hosting a one-day event to provide resource opportunities to unsheltered people on Tuesday.

Project Connect intends to share housing services, benefits, identification and other basic needs to those experiencing homelessness, according to a press release.

Professionals who provide housing, temporary shelter, medical care, clothes, personal care items, family and legal services, substance abuse services, spiritual services, veteran benefits and domestic violence resources will be available to meet with guests. COVID-19 vaccinations will also be available.

The event is set to run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot on the corner of 12th Avenue and Madison Street.

“Project Connect extends the services provided on the Human Services Campus deeper into the community to help move people from street to home,” Human Services Campus Executive Director Amy Schwabenlender said in the release.

“Project Connect takes these resources into communities to where people are experiencing homelessness.”

The campus shelters 900 people each day, according to the release.

Participating nonprofits include Circle the City, Central Arizona Shelter Services, Community Bridges, Basic Mission, City of Phoenix, Salvation Army, True Connect Wireless, Department of Economic Security and Arizona Motor Vehicle Division, according to the release.

Past events took place in Tempe, west Phoenix and Surprise.

The upcoming event will have volunteers guide guests and provide support. The volunteer registration is posted online.

We want to hear from you.
