PHOENIX — Police are investigating a shooting Sunday morning that left one man dead and another injured, authorities said.

Phoenix police responded to a call around 2 a.m. of multiple gun shots being fired near 24th Street and Baseline Road.

Upon arriving to the scene, police found a man with a gun shot wound in a nearby alley, according to the press release.

The man, Steven Magana, later died from his injuries.

Police said another adult man with gunshot wounds was hospitalized with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

Officers later located a vehicle suspected to be part of the shooting leaving the area and began pursuit, the release said.

The vehicle was then involved in a minor crash after police pursuit near Broadway Road and Hardy Drive.

Four people were in the vehicle and all were detained without further incident.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

It was determined the four people in the car were not believed to be involved in the shooting, the release said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
