PHOENIX — A man was arrested in Chandler last week after authorities seized over 35 pounds of fentanyl pills from his vehicle during a drug trafficking investigation.

Thirty-year-old Braulio de Diego from Mesa was arrested near Chandler Boulevard and Loop 101, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said in a press release.

He faces charges related to possession of a narcotic drug and possession of narcotics for sale.

Authorities said 35.7 pounds of fentanyl, about 150,000 pills were retrieved — an estimated street value of over $525,000.

Diego was booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix.

AZDPS investigated the case with the help of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations.
