PHOENIX — A man died and four other people were injured after a suspect shot into a crowd of people fighting inside a Phoenix home, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting around 2 a.m. near 46th Street and McDowell Road, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release.

When they arrived, they found a man in his 40s dead and a teenage girl with a life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.

Three others with gunshot wounds that weren’t life-threatening were taken to a hospital.

The victims ranged in age from their teens to early 50s.

The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, was arrested at the scene, then taken to a hospital for a laceration that wasn’t life-threatening.

Preliminary information suggests there was a physical fight between multiple men during a party, and one of the men involved shot multiple times into the crowd as he was trying to run away.

Witnesses told police they held him until he was arrested.

The investigation remains ongoing.

No additional information was available.

Correction: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly said that five survivors were wounded in the shooting.
