PHOENIX — Parts of the Valley were hit with heavy rain and strong winds on Friday, causing flooding on highways and power outages.

Areas across Phoenix were in a dust advisory until 5 p.m. and Maricopa County continues to have flash flood watches.

A flash flood warning was issued for Indian Bend Wash near Scottsdale and Tempe, with fast-flowing water in the area.

The storm near the Loop 101 in north Scottsdale generated over a half-inch of rainfall and had some hail and wind gusts up to 66 MPH, according to NWS Phoenix.

Parts of the Loop 101 near Scottsdale experienced flooding and the Arizona Department of Transportation advised that non-essential travel be postponed.

More than an inch was measured in an hour in north Scottsdale near TPC Scottsdale as the storm continues to head toward metro Phoenix.

Just over 2.3 inches of rainfall was recorded in an hour near E Thunderbird and N Scottsdale roads.

Wind gusts could reach up to 45 MPH and rain and lightning is expected in the area.

The strong storms also produced hail in the area that could be about a quarter-sized.

SRP reported a handful of power outages effecting those near downtown Scottsdale and some outages stretch into downtown Phoenix.

However, those in the Valley that experienced outages are starting to re-gain power.
