PHOENIX — Two men were arrested and face murder charges after a 19-year-old was shot in Tempe last month, authorities said.

Christian Renteria and Javier Cruz were arrested on July 31 for allegedly killing Ki’Marion Woods near Southern Avenue and Priest Drive on July 28, the Tempe Police Department said.

Renteria and Cruz face first-degree murder and marijuana sales charges, while Renteria also faces 14 counts of endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Authorities said Renteria admitted to shooting Woods and leaving the scene during a post-arrest interview following an investigation, which included digital forensics examination of cellphone data.

The suspects were booked into Tempe City Jail and later transferred to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix.
