Work starts on another industrial park near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport

PHOENIX – More warehouse space is on its way to southeast Mesa after developers broke ground Tuesday on a three-building industrial park project.

When completed, Advanced Industrial Park will provide 335,066 square feet of warehouse and distribution space near Sossaman and Pecos roads, south of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Phoenix-based developer ViaWest Group purchased the 21-acre property for $9.7 million earlier this year, according to AZ Big Media.

Design and construction company Clayco was contracted to build on the land.

“ViaWest and Clayco are making a wise decision to locate in southeast Mesa, where the demand for industrial space has not slowed. In fact, it continues to gain momentum,” Mesa Mayor John Giles said in a press release.

“This development brings another great option for companies looking to start or expand their operations in Mesa.”

The largest of the three buildings will have 131,737 square feet of rentable square footage. The others will have 122,690 and 80,639 square feet.

“I am thrilled that ViaWest and their partners chose southeast Mesa as the place in which to expand their operation,” Councilman Kevin Thompson said in the release.

“Expansions such as this are what attract others to make the investment in our community and bring jobs to the region.”

The groundbreaking came a month after work started nearby on a much larger three-building industrial park.

Developer Greystar’s Gateway Grand project will about six times as big as Advanced Industrial Park at 2 million square feet, with the largest structure at nearly 1.1 million square feet.
