PHOENIX – Peoria police arrested a driver who allegedly caused multiple collisions and fled into a regional park, where the suspect’s vehicle caught fire.

The Peoria Police Department said officers were called Sunday about a driver who allegedly left the scene of a collision near 75th and Grand avenues.

Police said the suspect rammed the other vehicle then drove off.

The fleeing driver hit several other vehicles along the way, police said.

Officers tried to pull over the car, but the driver didn’t comply, instead staying westbound before eventually heading into White Tank Mountain Park.

Troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety helped stop the car.

The suspect was out of the car when it caught fire, police said.

No other details were made available.
