PHOENIX — A Phoenix man was charged with assaulting an officer during a human trafficking arrest, authorities said Tuesday.

Brandon Hall, 33, was accused of almost hitting a Border Patrol agent who was on foot attempting to pull over the truck he was driving in southern Arizona that was carrying seven migrants, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

Hall then drove off as the seven migrants exited the vehicle, according to the release.

Border Patrol eventually found Hall’s vehicle and apprehended him, his 41-year-old passenger Martina Vega and four of the migrants.

Hall was charged with assaulting a federal officer and conspiring to transport illegal aliens while placing in jeopardy the life of another.

Vega was also charged with conspiring to transport illegal aliens while placing in jeopardy the life of another.

Hall could face a maximum penalty of 28 years in prison for the two charges.

Border Patrol conducted the investigation into the case.
