PHOENIX – Police in Gilbert are asking the public for tips about a shooting that took place outside a restaurant earlier this year.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of Sandbar Mexican Grill near Williams Field Road and Santan Village Parkway around 1 a.m. on May 8, the Gilbert Police Department said Monday in a press release.

A man was shot twice during an altercation that started inside the restaurant and spilled outside, police said. He was hospitalized with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

The alleged shooter was seen on surveillance video wearing a ball cap and what appear to be shorts and a tank top. Police described the outfit as “a short-sleeve matching men’s romper set.”

The suspect got into a red Dodge Challenger that sped off after the shooting, police said.

Anybody with information about the case was asked to call the Gilbert Police Department at 480-503-6500 or submit a tip online.

We want to hear from you.
