PHOENIX — Arizona’s hot weather is described as “dry heat,” but that doesn’t stop the state from having some of the sweatiest cities in the nation.

Among the largest 200 cities in the country, MyDatingAdviser.com found three Arizona cities rank among the top 25 where people sweat the most.

Tucson was the highest-ranked Arizona city at No. 18, followed by Phoenix (No. 20), Mesa (No. 22) and Gilbert (No. 25).

Just outside the top 25 were Chandler (No. 27), Tempe (No. 30) and Scottsdale (No. 38), with Surprise (No. 51) being the least-sweatiest Arizona city to make the list.

“The study factored in the average summer temperatures of each city and proximity to large bodies of water,” Amy Pritchett, editor-in-chief at MyDatingAdviser.com, said in a press release.

“In addition, the exercise rate of the population, as well as population density and major sporting events, were also considered for the rankings, knowing that more frequent exercise and crowded events lead to a city’s overall sweatiness.”

The study admitted that sweatiness is more related to humidity and population density than temperature, which makes it no surprise to see three states dominate the top 10 sweatiest cities.

Florida has four of the sweatiest cities – with Orlando ranking No. 1 – followed by Texas with three and Louisiana with two.

Oceanside, California, was the least sweaty city on the list.
