PHOENIX – Valley restaurateur Sam Fox’s chickens are coming home to roost Thursday when takeout pizza/wings chain Fly Bye opens its first dine-in spot.
Fly Bye’s second Phoenix location will dish up the good stuff at Desert Ridge Marketplace from 11 am. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant at Loop 101 Pima Freeway and Tatum Boulevard has seating for 22 indoors and also has a patio.
The expanded menu features Detroit-style square-pan pizza, a gluten-free crust option, chicken wings and tenders that can be dipped in a choice of eight housemade sauces, chopped salads and hoagies.
“We’re excited … this is going to be the first stand-alone brick-and mortar-location,” Fox, founder of Fox Restaurant Concepts told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday.
“We were able to expand the menu because we have a bigger and better kitchen and we’re open for lunch so we’ve expanded the salad category and the sandwich category.”
The restaurant described the decor as “funky and irreverent, we really tried to just have fun.”
Fox Restaurant Concepts’ original Fly Bye opened near Seventh Street at Bethany Home Road inside Culinary Dropout in December 2020 during the pandemic. Hours are 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
A third location, also to-go, is scheduled to open in the Arcadia neighborhood in Phoenix at 40th Street and Camelback Road in the fall.
Fox is the brains behind many popular Valley restaurants such as Culinary Dropout, Flower Child and Zinburger.
