PHOENIX – An East Valley bridge over Interstate 10 will be closed for two weeks starting next week for work related to the Broadway Curve Improvement Project, authorities said Wednesday.

Guadalupe Road will be closed in both directions between Pointe Parkway on the west side of I-10 in Phoenix and Calle Sahuaro on the east side in the town of Guadalupe so crews can install storm drains, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced.

The closure — which pertains to vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists — is scheduled to run from 4 a.m. Monday to July 25 at 8 p.m.

ADOT is advising westbound motorists to take Kyrene Road south, Elliot Road west and 48th Street north to pick up Guadalupe Road on the west side of I-10.

Eastbound drivers can detour south on 48th Street, east on Elliot Road and north on Kyrene Road to get back to Guadalupe Road.

Pedestrians and cyclists can use Avenida del Yaqui/Priest Drive instead of Kyrene Road.

The Broadway Curve Improvement Project will expand and make improvements over 11 miles of I-10 between the I-17 “Split” and Loop 202 Santan/South Mountain Freeway.

I-10 is being widened to six general purpose lanes and two high-occupancy lanes each way between U.S. 60 and I-17. A fourth general purpose lane in each direction between Ray Road and U.S. 60 is also being added.

Drivers can expect intermittent closures on and around I-10 in the area as the construction proceeds. ADOT expects the project to be completed in late 2024.
