Early-morning fire sends multiple Phoenix crews to scrap yard

PHOENIX – Fire tore through a Phoenix scrap yard and damaged two properties nearby early Wednesday, first responders said.
The blaze went up near 43rd Avenue and Broadway Road, the Phoenix Fire Department said.
No injuries were reported.
Early-morning commuters called in the fire around 4 a.m., a spokesman said.
Crews arrived to see flames lighting up the yard and smoke rushing into the sky.

Firefighters set up “big water” operations, dumping water from on high to douse the flames.
The fire was out by around 6 a.m. but Broadway Road remained closed at 35th Avenue.
Cause of the fire is under investigation.
No other details were made available.
