PHOENIX — Two juveniles were arrested Monday in Glendale for allegedly shooting at police officers who were investigating a nearby burglary call, authorities said.

The boys, ages 14 and 13, are facing counts of aggravated assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm and attempted murder, according to the Glendale Police Department.

Officers were at the burglary call near 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road when they heard several shots near them.

Police used technology to pinpoint the shots coming from a nearby apartment complex.

Security footage showed the two boys shooting a gun, with the 13-year-old firing a single shot before handing the weapon to the 14-year-old, who fired multiple rounds.

The two boys were subsequently arrested and confessed to the shooting, police said.

The 14-year-old boy said in a post-arrest interview he took the gun from his mother’s dresser, according to police.

The younger boy said he wanted to murder a police officer, police said.
