PHOENIX — Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers announced Monday the groundbreaking of its new health care facility in Goodyear.

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the 28,634-square-foot facility at the northwest corner of 159th Avenue and McDowell Road will take place on Sept. 20, according to a press release.

While no projected opening date was provided, the facility will offer radiation and medical oncology, CT and PET diagnostic imaging, radiation and the latest chemo and immunotherapy treatments, as well as women’s oncology services.

“Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers will be a fantastic addition to Goodyear’s Medical Innovation Corridor, adding to the growing ecosystem of exceptional cancer care in the city of Goodyear,” Mayor Joe Pizzillo said in the release.

“In addition to Ironwood’s integrative approach to oncology care and treatment, they are bringing a research program devoted to assisting patients with obtaining greater access to groundbreaking technologies and medications to the community of Goodyear.”

It marks the organization’s 16th location and will employ 52 full-time positions, according to the release.

“We chose to open in Goodyear because it is one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation and was awarded the best place for a business in 2020; and the strong commitment the city of Goodyear has made to create a healthy community for their residents with access to quality health care and oncology services, as well as cultivating a robust environment for business,” Brian Washburn, executive director for Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers, said in the release.

“In addition, the leadership at Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers is delighted to be breaking ground in Goodyear and looks forward to offering comprehensive and supportive care services in the West Valley.”
