Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey tests positive for COVID-19, is ‘feeling well’

PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey is “feeling well” after testing positive for COVID-19, but he won’t be able to welcome former Vice President Mike Pence to the state, his office said Monday.

“Gov. Ducey has tested positive for COVID-19. He is asymptomatic and feeling well, but will not be attending the border tour and policy address with Vice President Mike Pence today,” CJ Karamargin, Ducey’s director of communications, told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

“The governor welcomes Vice President Pence to Arizona and thanks him for his continued advocacy of border security.”

Ducey had been planning to be on hand when Pence delivers a public policy address on border security issues at the Arizona Commerce Authority in Phoenix on Monday afternoon.

Ducey also was going to join Pence for a tour of the Arizona-Mexico border earlier in the day.

Pence and Ducey are working to amplify GOP messaging on border issues that they see as a potent political issue.

Ducey co-leads the Republican Governors Association, and Pence is seen as a possible 2024 presidential candidate.
