17-year-old Phoenix male in seriously critical condition after drowning

PHOENIX — A 17-year-old male is in seriously critical condition after nearly drowning at a pool in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Firefighters were dispatched around 3 p.m. to reports of a teenager submerged in the water for approximately 20 seconds, authorities said.

Family members pulled him out of the pool, authorities said.

The patient was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

There were 34 drowning incidents in Phoenix from the start of the year through May with 10 deaths, according to the city’s website.

No additional information was available.
