PHOENIX — An Arizona man is behind bars after he allegedly threatened his ex-wife with a gun Friday following an argument over the best school for their 5-year-old son, authorities said.

Deputies with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a woman who said her ex-husband put a pistol under her chin and threatened to kill to her as a result of the argument.

The suspect, 27-year-old Kyle Bomgardner, was gone by the time deputies arrived at the Oak Creek residence, according to YCSO.

A witness said as Bomgardner left the home, he brandished the weapon and threatened to kill his ex-wife and the witness if they called law enforcement.

Bomgardner also said he would kill law enforcement one by one if they responded to the situation, YCSO said.

About an hour after the initial call, YCSO found Bomgardner in another Oak Creek home.

Bomgardner, who was with the child, initially deadbolted the front door before surrendering.

YCSO recovered a loaded handgun, holster, ammunition, meth pipes and other drug paraphernalia following a search.

Bomgardner was booked into Yavapai County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, endangerment, threatening and intimidating, and child abuse.
