Scottsdale, Gilbert ranked among best U.S. cities to raise family, per WalletHub

PHOENIX — A personal finance website ranked Scottsdale and Gilbert in the top 20 for best cities to raise a family in the United States.
Scottsdale came in at No. 10 and Gilbert No. 13 in WalletHub’s comparison of locations to raise a family. Chandler was placed at No. 21.
WalletHub used health and safety, family fun, affordability and education as some of the metrics to devise the list.
Scottsdale ranked 12th in affordability and eighth in socio-economics. Gilbert landed 11th in both categories while Chandler was 22nd and 15th, respectively.
Scottsdale and Gilbert tied for first in median family salary, and Gilbert ranked fifth in percentage of families living below the poverty line.
A difference between the two east Valley cities is Gilbert ranked third in percentage of families with young kids while Scottsdale ranked 181st out of 182 measured cities.
After Chandler, Peoria is the next Arizona city at No. 49, followed by Phoenix at No. 103 and Tempe at No. 106.
Fremont, Calif., is WalletHub’s top city to raise a family because of its health and safety and socio-economics. Four of the top 10 cities are in California.
Detroit is the 182nd ranked city on the bottom of the list.
