PHOENIX – Fire at a Phoenix scrapyard near downtown brought crews and employees together in mop-up duty early Friday, first responders said.
The blaze at AIM Recycling burned metal and clouded the sky with smoke near McDowell Road and 22nd Avenue starting Thursday around 11 p.m., the Phoenix Fire Department said in a press release.
No one was injured and the fire was out by early Friday, firefighters said.

Firefighters reached the site to find a large pile aflame and began defensive measures. The attack required multiple ladder trucks for a “big water operation,” a fire official said.
After the fire was out, AIM employees helped search for and put out hotspots.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
