PHOENIX — Search crews found the body of a man who drowned at Lake Pleasant in Peoria over the weekend, authorities said Wednesday.
Lorne Jonassen, 52, went underwater around 11 a.m. Saturday in the area of South Barker Island and didn’t resurface, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in an email.
His body was recovered in 147 feet of water around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
There were no signs of foul play and Jonassen was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the drowning, authorities said.
It was the sixth consecutive weekend with a drowning at Lake Pleasant.
Jonassen was one of two swimmers to go missing at Phoenix-area lakes over the Memorial Day weekend, the other at Saguaro Lake.
The man who went missing at Saguaro Lake on Monday around 5 p.m. was also found dead.
