PHOENIX – Valley drivers should plan for major disruptions on Interstate 10 near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport this weekend as crews continue work on the Broadway Curve Improvement Project.
Eastbound I-10 and multiple ramps will be closed from State Route 51 to SR 143 from 10 p.m. Friday to about midnight Saturday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The following ramps will be closed during that time period:
- All eastbound I-10 on-ramps between Third and 40th streets.
- Southbound SR 143 to eastbound I-10.
- Southbound I-17 on-ramps at Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street.
- Westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway ramp to eastbound I-10.
- Southbound SR 51 on-ramp at McDowell Road.
- Southbound SR 51 to eastbound I-10.
- Southbound I-17 to eastbound I-10.
The closure changes directions for the rest of the weekend, with westbound I-10 shut down between SR 143 and I-17 from about midnight Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday.
🚧EB I-10 will close from SR 51 to SR 143, and WB I-10 will narrow to two lanes from SR 143 to 24th St. from 10 p.m. Fri., June 3, to 11:59 p.m. Sat., June 4🚧 WB I-10 will close from SR 143 to I-17 from 11:59 p.m. Sat., June 4, to 4 a.m. Mon., June 6. https://t.co/9RToV9jv5l pic.twitter.com/3ymFS9d5qe

The westbound I-10 on-ramps between Elliot Road and 32nd Street and U.S. 60 on-ramp at Mill Avenue will be closed at that time, too.
The westbound US 60 HOV ramp to westbound I-10 will be closed all weekend, from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday.
ADOT suggests using the Loop 101 Price Freeway and/or the Loop 202 Red Mountain and South Mountain freeways to avoid the construction zone.
Sky Harbor traffic will have to enter the airport from the east off the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway and SR 143.
This restrictions will be in place so crews can set the first girders over I-10 for bridges at 48th Street and complete utility work.
“It’s going to be a busy summer for the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project as our construction teams make significant progress on several new bridges that will carry traffic over I-10,” Amy Ritz, an ADOT project manager, said in a press release.
If there are more closures around the Valley this weekend, ADOT will announce them later in the week.
But before then, there will be daytime restrictions near the airport unrelated to the Broadway Curve Project on Wednesday.
The eastbound I-10 ramp to northbound I-17 at the Split interchange will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for guardrail repair.
