MCSO asking for public’s help in hit-and-run that killed pedestrian in Mesa

PHOENIX — Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect and vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Mesa Saturday morning.
The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday on University Drive east of 54th Street involving a pedestrian and an unknown dark colored vehicle, according to a press release.
Walking near the north curb on University, the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle moving westbound and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and is still outstanding. The vehicle is believed to have damages on the passenger side possibly to the hood, bumper area, quarter panels and doors.
There’s also evidence of the vehicle having possible damage to its windshield or windows, according to the release.
