Grand reopening of Rotary Splash Pad in Fountain Hills set for this week

May 25, 2022, 4:35 AM | Updated: 8:10 am

PHOENIX — As temperatures begin to climb into the triple-digits, children will once again be able to cool off at the Rotary Centennial Splash Pad in Fountain Hills after a grand re-opening this week.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for Thursday at 8:15 a.m. for the splash pad at Fountain Park at 17000 E. El Lago Boulevard, which closed for construction last fall, the town said in a press release.

The play area of the splash pad has increased in size and now features more than 30 water features, such as the Mega Soaker and Sneaky Soaker water buckets, Custom Cool Trane, Geyser, Froggie-O and Tidal Wave, the town said.

People will be able to enjoy the splash pad from 9 a.m. to sunset daily.

The splash pad was one of the first installed in Arizona and after 15 years of use, the town decided it was time for a refresh as the components of the popular attraction had exceeded their life expectancy and showed significant wear.

Construction of the splash pad was part of a playground renovation at the town’s flagship park, which also includes a new 30-foot climbing tower that has challenges for children aged 5-12 and a new playground for younger kids aged 2-5.

We want to hear from you.
