PHOENIX — A small plane crashed after taking off from the Prescott Regional Airport on Sunday but the pilot was not injured, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 9 a.m. when the pilot of a Cessna 172 reported that he “lost his engine,” the airport said in a press release.
The pilot put his aircraft down in vacant scrubland a few miles to the west of the airport, authorities said.
While the pilot was not injured, authorities said he was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash and no other information regarding the cause of the engine failure was available, the airport said.
